Bountiful Plumber for Leaks, Clogs and No Hot Water
Water on the floor, a drain that keeps backing up, or a shower that has gone cold: call Bountiful UT Expert Plumbers and say what you are seeing. A plumber on the phone can tell you what to check first and what kind of visit to expect.

Which problem sounds like yours?
Most calls start with a symptom, not a service name. Find the closest match and the page behind it explains what to check, what to ask a plumber and when to call right away.

Emergency plumbing: four things to do before you call
If you need an emergency plumber, do these four things and then call. They limit the damage and give the plumber a clear picture of the problem before anyone drives out.
- Close the main shutoff valve. It is usually where the water line enters the house. Closing it stops the supply but does not show where the leak is, so a plumber still has to find the source.
- Open the lowest faucet. This lets the water in the pipes drain. Stay clear of outlets, the electrical panel and any appliance standing in water.
- Smell gas? Go outside first. Call your gas utility or 911 from outside, and do not use switches or flames. A gas smell is not a job to start with a plumber.
- Call (833) 840-2034. Say where the water is coming from, whether you shut it off, and your address and ZIP. Take photos of the damage if it is safe to do so.
A pipe that froze overnight can split where it froze and leak only once it thaws, so close the main before thawing it. If that is your situation, the page on burst and frozen pipe repair covers what comes next. Once the water is stopped, water removal and drying covers wet floors and walls.
What the first phone call covers
A good first call is short and specific. Expect questions like these:
- Where the problem is: a fixture, a wall, the floor, the yard or the water heater.
- Whether the water can be shut off, and whether it is still running.
- Your street address and ZIP, so we can confirm we can reach you.
- What you have already tried, such as a plunger, a reset button or a closed valve.
A firm price needs a look at the problem first. The plumber will tell you what has to be checked before a number can be given, so you are not quoted a figure over the phone that changes at the door. For a sense of scale before you call, see the typical plumbing price ranges.

Call (833) 840-2034Bountiful's water supply and what it does to a water heater
Bountiful runs its own water system. About 60 percent of the supply comes from city wells, about 20 percent from Mill Creek and about 20 percent from the Weber River, according to the city's 2025 water quality report. That report calls the water relatively hard, especially from the wells, and does not publish a hardness number. Bountiful is also a suburb on the northern edge of the Salt Lake City area, built against the foot of the Wasatch Range, with a dry climate and freezing winter temperatures at that mountain elevation, so frozen pipes and mineral scale are the two themes that come up most on these pages.
Scale is the practical result. Look for crust on the fittings at the top of the tank, a rumble when the burner or element runs, and hot water that runs out sooner than it used to. If you are quoted for repairing a failing heater, ask whether scale is the cause, and whether a newer tank would only meet the same buildup.

Because the supply blends three sources and no figure is published, ask for a tap test before anyone sizes a softener. A plumber should be able to say what the test showed and why the system they suggest fits it. If an older tank is past repair, replacing an older tank covers the choices, and softener installation covers what a softener does and does not fix.
Sewer lines and digging in Bountiful: who approves what
The building sewer, the line running from your house toward the main, is paid for by the owner, and no digging starts until the South Davis Sewer District approves the work. The District serves Bountiful, and its approvals and fees are separate from a city building permit. Its number for lateral work is (801) 295-3469, and its permit and fee page lists what it requires.
Digging adds a second step. Utah's Blue Stakes service, reached by calling 811, must be notified at least three business days and no more than 14 days before excavation, even for a homeowner. Utilities mark only the lines they own, and private sewer, water and sprinkler lines are typically left unmarked, so a private locate may be needed. The Blue Stakes FAQ lists the timing.

Before a repair is scheduled, ask the plumber who is handling the District approval and who is placing the 811 request. If the symptom is only a slow or backed-up drain, clearing the drain first can show whether the main line is the problem. If a camera inspection shows the line itself has failed, repairing a sewer lateral explains the next decisions.
